Today was almost wholly devoted to wedding planning. We started with a trip to AAA to talk to a travel agent about our honeymoon options. We still don't know exactly where to go, but want somewhere warm and on the beach. We were leaning towards Greece, Southern Italy, or somewhere in the South Pacific--Tahiti or Bora Bora. We received a lot of good information and learned quite a bit about pricing.
After visiting AAA we went to the mall to pick out our tuxedo ensembles. Finally settling on tuxedos from Jos. A Bank.
Hooray wedding planing!!

A Pizza Uh-oh!
Tonight we were celebrating my birthday with friends at Sharp Edge. My friend Dave Corbitt, a friend from Purdue and also one of our groomsmen, shares the exact same birthday as me, so he was celebrating as well. Kate started to get out a tube of pizza dough from the fridge and first realized it had expired, but only by a few days. "Eh, it will be fine," I said. She was opening it when popped and fell on the floor. Uh-oh! Nothing we couldn't fix. Pulling off the dirty parts, she tried to roll out the dough on a cookie sheet. It was all clumpy and looked more like Swiss cheese! Finally giving in, we decided to order pizza from Eddie's Pizza Haus in Morningside. One of our favorite places to get pizza. Even after the pizza uh-oh, it turned out to be a fun night out with friends!
Mmmmm, pizza and salad!

Cleaning up from Christmas
That tree was SO dry! We had so many needles all over the floor, too. Look at all of those needles lying on the driveway!
Kate and I have both been pretty addicted to Pinterest. One of the projects we saw, was to save a piece of your tree from each year and to create an ornament for future trees. Using my reciprocating saw that my parents gave me last year for Christmas--now we've come full circle--I cut off a piece of the tree trunk for next year.

A new car!!
...well kinda...
As you may know, during our travels to Haddam Neck during Memorial Day weekend we hit a deer on I-78....5 miles into New Jersey! Only about $8000 of damage, no big deal. Well, we recently realized that a few other things were going wrong with the car--no windshield washer fluid. I dropped the car off at the service center and picked up a rental car. A Mazda 6.

I was offered either a Mazda 6 or a GMC Canyon. Why didn't I take the truck?! I think because I've always wanted to drive a Mazda. I hope we don't need the car for too many days!

Happy Birthday to ME!!
Today was my 26th birthday! I spent the day at home, doing what I pleased. We really hadn't had much snow this winter, but today that really changed! Thankfully, I had already returned from purchasing (one of) my birthday present(s) when the snow started.
Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!
While I was hanging out at home, Kate was hard at work taking care of her little friends. The trip home from work, which typically takes 15 minutes, took about an hour! With all of the snowy roads, we decided to order in Chinese food rather to head out to explore a new restaurant we wanted to try--Alchemy N' Ale in Lawrenceville. After dinner, I opened my gifts from Kate and ate the wonderful lemon cheesecake she baked for me!
My gifts! A Carhartt jacket for winter outdoor work, a new camera strap(!!), Purdue license plate, and a glass carboy for beer brewing.
Yay birthday cake! Kate grouped 2 and 6 candles together rather than burning the house down with 26 total candles.

Broken Mug
Kate and I were still on vacation today and really had not put our things away from our 9 days away from home for the holidays. To tackle the enormous project I definitely needed my coffee!
As I do almost every day, I made my coffee and poured myself a few mugs. On probably my third mug, it slipped out of my hand my favorite mug from my dad broke on the counter, spilling coffee all over the kitchen -- and myself. The final mug was placed in my indestructible plastic mug from first Foltz Christmas last year. Such a sad day!
At my second Foltz family Christmas, Kate and I received a composting bucket for our kitchen. It's also been something I've wanted to do for us to help make our home a little bit more green.
A traditional New Years Day meal includes pork because just as pigs always push forward, we should also move forward in the new year! We started a pork recipe on New Years Day, but still recovering from our trip from Florida to Pittsburgh and New Years Eve, we never finished.
The picture for today includes my broken mug, the indestructible replacement, our kitchen compost bucket and the recipe for the Filipino pork.

Happy New Year 2012!
Kate and I rang in the new year with friends at our good friends' (Katie and Steve) house. We had traveled a long way from Ft Myers Beach, FL, getting up at 3AM for our flight to Philadelphia. Then driving back to Bethlehem to Kate's parents' house to gather our gifts and other belongings before finally driving back to Pittsburgh. We arrived home around 4PM and were off to the party at 8:45PM. Talk about a whirlwind day!
It was great to see many of our friends and to unwind with them as we rang in the new year!
The point of this new blog is to take and share a picture taken daily. Here are the pictures taken on New Years Eve, after midnight, of course. :)
